ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. - It’s a happy ending for a little dog people around the Tampa Bay area fought to save.
Many people raced to sign an online petition to save Rufus and…it worked.
The one-year-old beagle was under quarantine at Orange County animal control after biting his family's four-year-old child on the lip.
Rufus was then scheduled to be put down.
The family fought back with a campaign that went viral. Now, Rufus is back home.
Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs says medical records determined the bite wasn't as serious as initially believed and Rufus was released to his owners.
At the time of his release, more than 180-thousand people had signed a change.org online petition to save him.
