Dessert lovers rejoice! Today is National Cheesecake Day, and here's something that may surprise you.

The creamy, sweet goodness has a connection to the Olympics. It was thought to be a good source of energy in ancient Greece.

It was served to the first Olympians in 776 BC.

But the dessert we all know and love as cheesecake -- the stuff with cream cheese-- actually got it start in New York in the 1870's.

Arnold Reuben -- yes the same Reuben of sandwich fame -- is credited with creating the cheese-based recipe for the New York-style cheesecake.
