Resolutions for the busy mom

In this week's Parents in Action, the top resolutions for the busy mom to help them have more fun and get healthier in 2012. Tampa Bay Parenting Magazine editor Angela Ardolino has the top ten resolutions for the busy mom.

1.    Take care of you and fall in love with you all over again, medically, mentally and anesthetically. Find out if you are at risk for heart disease or stroke. Heart disease, including stroke, claims the lives of more women that the next seven causes of deaths combined, yet many women do not know their risks. The reality is that more women will die from heart disease or stroke that from breast cancer.

The Women's Healthy Heart Center is a combined effort of St. Joseph's Women's Hospital and St. Joseph's Hospital Heart Institute. This is the first local program designed specifically to assess a woman's risk for heart disease.

2.    Lose Weight and get fit by visiting a doctor to get help or get rid of fat. Dance it off by taking up a class or go out and play a sport like tennis, racquet ball or softball.

3.    Treat yourself for an hour or a weekend. Try Botox, get a monthly massage or try acupuncture. Lunch and shopping with a girlfriend can be therapeutic.

4.    Do something new to expand your limits like learning CPR, taking yoga or changing your hair. You could even go as far as learning to dive or to tap dance.


5.    Fulfill a goal and do something you love. Take a trip. Get family pictures done every year with everyone included not just the kids. Go back to school or get a job to increase your knowledge and career potential. Learn how to do something new like painting or photography.

6.    Get involved in your community. Volunteer or join the PTA. Donate gently used clothes or toys.

7.    Be healthier by eating in, eating locally, going organic reading the labels and even growing a garden.

8.    Go green by recycling and reusing. Try compost or buy a hybrid.

9.    Be spontaneous and pack up the family for a weekend trip. Make time for date night with your partner.
