It was just an ordinary day for lobsterman Denny Ingram until he discovered something unusual in one of his lobster pots.
He could only expect to find a red lobster, or perhaps even a blue one, but Ingram found a rare, yellow lobster.
He found the lobster in the Narragansett Bay's East Passage, which is located near Providence, Rhode Island.
Fortunately for Ingram, the chance of finding one of these rare creatures is about one in 30 million. This lobster is male and weighs about a pound and a quarter, says Ingram.
According to Pogo.com , "lobster shells are colored with blue, yellow and red pigments, so genetic variations are expected."
Local lobstermen have been experiencing a tough time, therefore for Ingram, finding this rarity is a total bonus.
Luckily for this lobster, he won't be seeing a dinner plate. Ingram wants to put his special finding on display at the fishermen's co-op at the State Pier in Newport.
