EA Sports pulled back the cover on their latest downloadable title Tuesday, announcing that NFL Blitz will release on the Xbox Live Marketplace and PlayStation Network this January. Sporting a bevy of upgrades, Blitz will aim to recapture the thrill of the groundbreaking arcade title from the late 90's.
A cluster of modes, ranging from online play to a ladder-style Gauntlet, join a new roster customization option and trading card-like incentive program. Players can earn cards of specific players and add them to whatever team they like. Entire teams made up of Zombies and Hot Dogs will offer a nice diversion if you want to go that route.
The Blitz series was known for its bone crushing hits, fired-up players, and extreme take on all things football. All of that will return along with NBA Jam announcer Tim Kitzrow, he of the BOOMSHAKALAKA fame. Look for NFL Blitz for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 for $15 this January.
