NEW YORK - Co-anchor Robin Roberts is taking medical leave from Good Morning America a day early.
Roberts last day was originally schedule for Friday August 31. Early Thursday, Good Morning America announced Robin will be going home to Mississippi after the show.
She is going to be with her ailing mother, Lucimarian. GMA says Roberts is still scheduled to begin her final preps for her bone marrow transplant next week.
Roberts told viewers she was battling MDS in July, a blood and bone marrow disease known as preleukemia. Her bone marrow donor is her sister, Sally.
