NORFOLK, Va. - A little girl singing our national anthem has become a YouTube superstar after her microphone malfunctioned while she was singing.
8-year-old Elizabeth Hughes was doing a phenomenal job singing when her microphone gave out at the line “Gave proof through the night” line of the Star-Spangled Banner at the January 7 Norfolk Admirals Game.
The Norfolk Admirals are the American Hockey League affiliate of the Tampa Bay Lightning.
When her microphone went dead, the crowd picked up where she left of in the song. Hughes held her composure and continued to sing with the audience, despite her dead microphone.
Though no one got to hear her hit the traditional high note at “the land of the free,” she was invited to sing again.
