LOS ANGELES - Jennifer Lopez and Harry Connick Jr. are joining Keith Urban as "American Idol" judges next season.
Fox TV announced the revamped panel Tuesday, along with a new role for original judge Randy Jackson. Jackson, who stepped down as a panelist after last season, will serve as in-house mentor to the show's contestants.
Pop star and actress Lopez is returning to the show after a two-season run as judge. Connick, a respected jazz singer and musician, proved adept as a mentor in several appearances on the singing contest.
Urban's return for a second year of judging was previously announced.
"American Idol" begins its 13th season next January.
