Civic officials in New York are planning to bring back a rollercoaster immortalised in WOODY ALLEN's Oscar-winning classic ANNIE HALL.

The Thunderbolt ride, at the city's Coney Island tourist hotspot, featured in a famous scene in Allen's 1977 masterpiece but was torn down in 2000 as the area was regenerated.

Now authorities in the Big Apple want to bring fairground rides and entertainment arcades back to the area, with a possible rollercoaster as its centrepiece, according to the New York Post.
