CARRIE UNDERWOOD took time out from her busy schedule on Tuesday (31Jul12) to visit a children's hospital in Massachusetts.

The Good Girl hitmaker headed to the Floating Hospital for Children at Tufts Medical Center in Boston and helped boost the spirits of young patients by touring the wards.

She met sick youngsters and their families and signed CDs for them - and even treated the kids to an impromptu performance of Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star after a two year old requested the song.

Underwood was overwhelmed by the trip, and has heaped praise on a musical patient called Chloi in a post on her Twitter.com page. She writes, "Met a brave young lady and fellow songwriter today named Chloi. Such a positive spirit! So sweet!"

The visit was in conjunction with local radio station WKLB and program director Mike Brophey says, "We are so grateful to Carrie for partnering with us to bring this one-of-a-kind experience to the children and families at Floating Hospital.

"This is a very special opportunity for us to participate in a small way in the healing process of the hospital's paediatric patients, and the generosity of country performers like Carrie Underwood is what makes it possible."
