TAMPA - A University of South Florida student is heading out on a 4-thousand mile bicycle journey.
Kiersten Downs is cycling from San Francisco to Washington, DC.
The trip will take her two months to complete.
The Air-Force veteran, who did a tour in Iraq, is riding to bring attention to student veterans, especially those struggling to make the transition from military life to college life.
"Leaving your family, leaving your life for six, 12, 24 months at a time can be stressful for anybody. So, I think what's most important is to make sure these support services that we have especially here on University campuses are available," said Downs.
Her cross-country biking story will be featured on MTV.
