Citrus County Opens Sandbag Locations -- As a precautionary measure, Citrus County emergency management officials are opening three sandbag locations due to potential flooding from Tropical Storm Isaac.
The following sandbag sites will be open from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Sunday:
These sites are scheduled to re-open at 7:00 am on Monday and close at noon on Monday.
At this point, residents west of US Hwy 19 can expect minor flooding based on the current storm track.
Pinellas County does not offer sandbags to residents of unincorporated areas of the county. When a storm is approaching, the county’s resources are dedicated to serving the citizens of Pinellas County and in the preparation of plans and the protection of property.
The City of Bradenton is giving away free sandbags to City residents on Sunday, August 26th from 8 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the City's Yard. Enter through the gate off 13th Avenue West, right across from 7th Street West. Residents must provide proof of residency and cannot receive ore than 10 sand bags.
The City of Madeira Beach will have 20,000 sandbags available Sunday afternoon. The sand bag filling station will be at Archibald Park, 15100 Gulf Boulevard.
New Port Richey residents can pick up sand bags at 6430 Pine Hill Road on Sunday, August 26, 2012 from 8 a.m. - 3 p.m. You must bring identification for proof of residency. There is a limit of 20 sand bangs per household. Please bring your own shovel.
