Tips and Information to Keep You and Your Family Safe

If a WATCH has been issued in your area:- Monitor storm reports on television and radio
- Fuel and service your car
- If moving to a shelter, make arrangements for pets (many shelters do not allow pets)
- Check and stock up on supplies like batteries, flashlight, cash, canned goods, drinking water and prescriptions
If a WARNING has been issued in your area:- If in a mobile home, check tie-downs and evacuate immediately
- Finish putting up storm shutters and bring in loose objects like outdoor furniture and planters
- If advised to evacuate, do so as soon as possible
- If you are not advised to evacuate, stay indoors, on the first floor away from windows
Riding out the storm at home:- Fill bathtub and large containers with water
- Do not go outside, even while eye of storm is passing over
- Beware of lightning
- Do not use electrical appliances or propane tanks
After the storm:- Remain indoors until area is declared safe
- Avoid fallen or low-hanging wires
- Stay away from weakened roads and bridges
- Use phones only for emergencies
- Check refrigerator and dispose of any spoiled food
