Positioning the head

Last Update: 12/10/2008 11:47 am
Your eyes dictate what your head position should be. You want to keep the ball directly in the center of your vision so you can concentrate on it completely. If you're short or using longer clubs, you'll be standing farther back from the ball and your gaze will be higher than a taller golfer whose stance may be closer to the ball. During the course of your swing, try not to move your head too much. You don't have to keep it absolutely still, but excessive movement can cause you to take your eyes, and your concentration, away from the ball. When putting (PUTT-ing), your head should be directly over the ball. Try this: get into your putting stance and hold a ball directly between your eyes. Now drop the ball. Assuming it doesn't roll, the spot where it lands should be the exact position where it ought to be when you begin your putt.
