Chili's is owned by Brinker International. In their statement, they apologized to their valued guests, saying, "We strive to ensure nutritional information we provide to our guests is accurate"

We also took a "run to the border,” where Taco Bell has a new fresco menu that includes the Grilled Steak Soft Taco, with 160 calories and just 4 ½ grams of fat.

But our test found the Steak Taco actually had 297 calories and almost 20 grams of fat. That's five times the amount of fat stated.

Applebee's Weight Watcher menu promises their Italian Chicken and Portobello Sandwich has 360 calories and only six grams of fat.

But our results were significantly higher. The sandwich was 395 calories and 18.6 grams of fat. That's over three times more.

There were three more meals with three times the fat: Chili's Chicken Platter, Taco Bell's Fresco Bean Burrito, and Applebee’s Weight Watcher's Garlic Herb Chicken.

All had about triple the fat than what it said on their menus.

Applebee's responded that their menu is 94 percent compliant and that they will continue to regularly test these Weight Watchers items and, if required, take action.

And Taco Bell responded stating they "go to great lengths to provide... truthful nutritional information."

Although they point out that federal guidelines allow them to be off by "20 percent".

So, our nutritionist says the next time you go out to eat, ask a lot of questions, and don't believe everything you read...especially on the menu!

“What is concerning is that what they're presenting as being healthful meals really have more calories and fat than the individual might think,” Holder said.
