Motorcross ran in Patrick Stephens blood. His living room doubles as a trophy room.
Sadly, a crash at a Dade City track triggered a devastating blow.
"I hit a rut and popped my neck," he says.
The crash left Patrick a quadriplegic. Patrick gets through each day with the help of his nurse Lisa and a constant stream of medical supply shipments.
"He has pain through out the day and nerve damage and he needs that medicine daily," Lisa says.
But weeks ago, UPS notified Patrick there would be no more deliveries to his home. Both he and his nurse say they pleaded with UPS but got no where.
"I got to have the supplies, got to have them no question about it," Patrick says.
We contacted UPS for an explanation and a company spokesperson told me this route recently transferred to a larger vehicle. Due to the amount of sugar berms the company deemed it unsafe for this truck to navigate.
Fortunately, the company came up with a solution. On days when they receive packages for Patrick, they are going to send a smaller truck down the dirt road to his home.
"If I get my medicine that would be one less thing to worry about for sure."
