15 years have passed since Preston Livingston last punched a time clock.
"I worked hard all these years and I am supposed to have a certain amount of money to deal with."
This Tampa retiree takes pride in paying his bills on time, but something happened in September that created chaos with his cash flow. "They told me the check was missing."
After signing up for direct deposit last fall, Preston says his very next social security check never made it into his account. So the $1200 he counted on for September literally vanished.
"They told me to wait 10 days, so I waited, nothing happened. They said they sent out a replacement check but I had not received it."
Preston was behind on his bills and at wits end by the time he called me in December. I emailed his information to social security's Atlanta office.
Days later a spokesperson responded. "Received the e-mail. I'm doing the background on it now...should have it out to a rep today and the claimant should hear from someone tomorrow."
Social security kept their word. The check that has been missing for months finally found its way into Preston's account.
Preston expressed, "It took less than two weeks to get that missing check.
