No, it is not too late to buy travel insurance if you are planning a trip. Only one company has stated that April 25 is the date that coverage will cease and that is because they exclude epidemics. What is important is that none of the policies, in their basic plans, cover the cancellation of a trip due to the fear of being exposed. The only way around that is to purchase a plan that offers "cancel for any reason". That option can be added to some plans for an additional premium and it allows a traveler to cancel a trip for reasons that are otherwise not covered. These options have pre-conditions such as having to buy the insurance within 2 weeks of your first trip payment and having to insure the full pre-paid cost, so make sure you read the fine print. Other than the trip cancellation coverage, the other coverages on most plans will continue to provide full coverage in the event an insured person becomes ill due to the swine flu.
