This game had all the makings of "getaway day." An early afternoon game that wraps up a three-game series. The Rays didn't look eager to face Romero. Romero took a no-hitter into the 7th inning in his last start. Romero gave up only four hits over eight innings and he had seven strikeouts.
James Shields hung with Romero but gave up homers to Rod Barajas, Adam Lind and Scott Rolen in the 7th and 8th innings.
The Rays are eight games over .500. They take Thursday off before opening a weekend series at Texas.
