And he’s just a red shirt freshman.
BJ Daniels put the Bulls on his ever broadening shoulders and led the Bulls to a much needed 30-19 win over Big East foe West Virginia.
Daniels accounts for 336 of the Bulls 421 total yards of offense. 104 yards on the ground, 232 through the air.
The majority of the damage was done on 2 long passes to Carlton Williams. Williams hauled in a 49 yards td in the first, and 69 yard pitch and catch set up another of Daniels 3 td tosses.
But perhaps the games 2 biggest plays won’t show up on a stat sheet.
One play prior to the Daniels to Williams first qtr td, Jim Leavitt stuck his neck out even further by deciding to go for it early in the 1st quarter on a 4th and 1 from his 49. They converted, and the very next play the Bulls hit pay dirt.
Big play #2? Another decision to go for it on 4th down….this time from the Bulls own 41…nursing a 8 point lead mind you. The Bulls convert and the drive culminates in a 44 yard field goal by Chris Schwartz, his third of the night.
The Bulls improve to 6-2, 2-2 in Big East play.
