Gaines Adams, we hardly got too know you...and it wasn't your fault.

The 4th overall pick in the 2007 draft has been sent to Chicago.  In exchange, the Bears mercifully provide the Bucs with a second round pick in next springs NFL Draft.

All too often the player is ganged up on, picked on, and made an example for underperforming.  But in my opinion, the blame lies squarely on the folks who are evaluating talent at 1 Buc.  Yes Gaines Adams produced only 13 1/2 sacks in his 2 plus seasons with the Bucs.  But it was the Bucs you evaluated him as a top 5 NFL Draft pick...obviously Gaines is not a franchise pass rusher...it's not his fault the Bucs thought he was.

The egg on the Bucs face however comes with an anticdote...Bears head coach Lovie Smith has saved Mark Dominik from completely being racked over the coals with this trade.  Some how Dominik did manage to salvage a second round pick for the underacheiving defensive end.
