1 Big Bucs Mess

I’ll say this much, there is never a dull day at 1 Buc.

10 days prior to the start of the season, the Bucs canned offensive coordinator Jeff Jagozinski.  10 games into the season, the Bucs have essentially canned defensive coordinator Jim Bates.

Raheem Morris and his players say it’s not a knock against Jim Bates….I wanted to ask Jim Bates if he felt the same way….oops, he wasn’t at practice today, so we couldn’t get his side of the story.  So much for it not being a knock against Jim Bates, eh?

There have been grumblings that players hadn’t accepted Bates’ defensive plan.  Chris Hovan essentially said as much admitting that he, and others are more comfortable in the traditional Tampa 2.

Newsflash.  The scheme doesn’t make the Tampa 2, the players do.  The likes of Warren Sapp, Derrick Brooks, Shelton Quarles, John Lynch, and Ronde Barber gave the Tampa 2 the name that football coaches and fans refer to all over the nation.

Last I checked, Sapp and Lynch are doing tv, Brooks is running a school, Shelton is a Bucs advance scout, and Ronde is running interference for Raheem Morris.

You want better results on defense?  Get better players.

Problem is, you have to spend money to acquire franchise changing talent.  And the past 5 years, the Bucs have not done so.

Until they do, they can run as many coordinators in and out of 1 Buc as they want…it won’t make a difference.
