TAMPA, FL -- It's only his first year teaching at Valrico's Bloomingdale Senior High School, but Grant Radebaugh has made quite an impact.
"He's one of the most influential teachers in the school" writes 16-year old Matt Johnson. "Everyone enjoys his class and he is exceptional at teaching advanced placement U.S. History. He knows how challenging it can be for his students. He spends a lot of time helping students after class and after school."
Johnson says he felt compelled to nominate his favorite teacher for recognition in our Head of the Class report. He writes, "Mr. Radebaugh is interesting today and inspirational tomorrow, a truly fantastic teacher who deserves this outstanding nomination".
Johnson's glowing words touched Mr. Radebaugh. He told me learning that Johnson had nominated him was "quite an honor and makes teaching worthwhile."
Radebaugh and his wife, Hannah, share a love of teaching. She's also a teacher at Bloomingdale Senior High School.
Three years ago they packed their bags and moved from Michigan to Florida to fill a need for teachers. When I first contacted Radebaugh to notify him of his nomination, I asked him to share with me a few classroom success stories. Radebaugh told me with this being his first year at Bloomingdale he didn't have any to share.
Well now he does. Congratulations Grant Radebaugh on being at the head of the class.
