UPDATE 8/27/09:Three big recalls this week you should know about....involving kitchen ranges, refrigerators, and window blinds in many homes.
A third item -- a popular brand of water bottle -- is also available for replacement due to concerns about BPA, even though it has not been officially recalled.
Kitchen Ranges RecalledKenmore and
Frigidaire are now recalling a quarter million electric kitchen ranges (stove-oven combos), because they can turn on without warning, and may stay on after you turn off the knob.
These are smoothtop ranges with the Kenmore and Frigidaire brand names, sold since 2001. All have rotary knobs. Models with digital push buttons are not affected.
