MIAMI, FL -- What do you get when you combine a crocodile with a magnet? Answer: bad navigation.

For homeowners in the Miami-Dade area, it's a beautiful thing.

It seems that state and federally protected American crocodiles have been migrating home to south Florida neighborhoods, where they're pretty much croc non grata.

But guess what? If you tape magnets to its noggin, according to the theory, a crocodile won't know if it's coming or going.

"Scientists in Mexico have reported success in using magnets to break the homing cycle," says Lindsey Hord, who's a crocodile response coordinator for the state.

It turns out a crocodile can tool along at an average 10 miles a week to get back to where they were captured.

And who tapes magnets to the heads of crocodiles?  Click here to find out.
