LIGHTHOUSE POINT, FL -- A Deerfield Beach man learned the true meaning of 'turnabout is fair play' when he went before a Broward County judge recently.
Gary Swanson was ordered to wear a GPS monitoring device on his ankle after he used a similar device to track and terrorize his ex-girlfriend.
Cops found the magnetically attached device on her jeep after she became suspicious.
Swanson repeatedly left detailed phone messages for his ex-girlfriend saying he knew exactly where she was at any hour of the day or night, according to police.
In one instance, he confronted her with the address of her private accountant and left a phone message wanting to know why she had been there.
"He kept showing up and calling her up and saying, 'What are you doing on such and such street,'" Lighthouse Point Police Commander Mike Oh told the Sun Sentinel. "It was only safe to assume that after so many times, he was probably tracking her."
Oh said Swanson was his own worst enemy.
Swanson, 56, is charged with aggravated stalking, violation of probation and reckless driving.
He has to wear the GPS device despite the fact he's being held without bail.
"I think it's fitting," Commander Oh said.
