— A man accused of trying to hit his wife with a plugged-in hair dryer as she was in the shower is facing a felony charge, according to a recently released arrest report.

The victim told police she was in the shower Friday morning when her 40-year-old husband, Dwayne Carl Nowacki, yelled at her about a past affair she had.

The arrest report gave this account:

She said he tore down the shower curtain and rod and took the shower nozzle from her, leaving a small cut on her. Nowacki, of the 1000 block of Southeast Euclid Lane, threw the nozzle at the shower wall before the victim sprayed Nowacki with water.

That, the victim said, is when Nowacki plugged in a hair dryer and tried to hit her with it. The dryer wasn’t turned on but the water was running. The hair dryer wouldn’t reach, she told police, and Nowacki unplugged it and threw it in the shower.

The victim told investigators she believed her husband “intended to electrocute her in the shower,” the report states.

She left for work hoping things would resolve themselves, but when she returned later in the day, Nowacki called and yelled at her, the report states. He allegedly continued yelling when she got home before he left.

Their 19-year-old son said Nowacki told him he “tossed the hair dryer in the shower at his mother,” the report states. The son called 911.

Police measured and found the dryer reached the shower while plugged in. The hair dryer was taken into evidence.

Nowacki was arrested Sunday on a felony aggravated assault charge.
