ORLANDO, FL -- Hundreds of mourners gathered Tuesday to memorialize slain Florida toddler Caylee Anthony in a music-filled service.
The public service was broadcast live on local television from the First Baptist Church of Orlando. Images of Caylee flashed on a giant screen in front of the church sanctuary as a pianist played, "You Are My Sunshine" and "If You're Happy and You Know It."
"There are days you don't know what to say and these are one of these days," said Pastor David Uth, who offered a "prayer of peace" for Caylee's mother, Casey Anthony (photos). She's jailed less than a mile from the church, charged with killing the child.
The Anthonys appeared calm, occasionally nodding and smiling as the pastor spoke.
George Anthony spoke for about ten minutes. "I am proud to be the grandfather of Caylee Marie," he said. He received a standing ovation when he finished.
He was followed by his wife, Cindy. "I remember the day Casey came to me to tell me the news I was going to be a grandmother. I knew that our lives were going to be blessed."
It's not known if Casey Anthony watched or listened to the service.
On Monday, Casey released a statement through her attorney, Jose Baez.
"I miss Caylee every day and every minute of every day. I can't be there for Caylee's funeral, but some day I want to go and visit her grave and tell her how much I miss her," Baez read from the statement.
Casey also made it clear that she did not want a public service. "I allowed my parents to be in charge for the funeral for Caylee. I told them I wanted her buried in a casket and I wanted there to be a gravestone so I could go and visit her. I asked them if there could only be a private funeral for just the family," she wrote.
