ORLANDO, FL -- As the case against accused murderer Casey Anthony slogs through the Orange County legal system, an Orlando TV station has put the spotlight on Casey's lead attorney, Jose Baez.

WFTV reporter Kathi Belich recently obtained jury surveys from cases that Baez defended.  She focused on one case in which he quizzed potential jurors in Osceola County just days after Caylee Anthony's remains were found.

Many of the comments were far from flattering.

“Ambulance chaser and rat,” “a jerk” who “should find another line of business,” “not a good lawyer” who is “full of himself” and “is out to become famous,” were among the comments.

A legal analyst, Bill Sheafer, told Belich it's likely jury members were venting their anger on Baez.  Just days earlier, Caylee's remains were found in the woods in a trash bag near her home.

“The community's emotions were raw,” Sheaffer said.

Time apparently softened the feelings of many.  Surveys taken a year later about Baez were less harsh, with negative comments dropping sharply.

In both cases, about half of those surveyed said they didn't know much about the Casey Anthony case, according to Belich.

Casey is charged with killing her 2-year-old daughter.  She's remains in the Orange County Jail.

Due to legal haggling and other delays, it appears her murder trail won't begin until sometime next year.
