Everyone's looking to save money these days, and the way you drive could keep more money in your pocket.

CNN and AOL Autos spoke to Gil Portalatin, a Ford veteran and expert on the company's 2010 Fusion Hybrid, about getting the best mileage on the road.

Portalatin believes that scheduled maintenance is important to fuel economy, but the driver is the key to maximizing miles.

He gave his advice for drivers, including tips for hybrid owners, during his conversation with AOL Autos.

For example, driving at 75mph takes more energy than driving at 65mph, so slow down on the highway.

And for hybrid owners, don't accelerate too slowly and waste your battery. If it runs out too soon, it will switch to gas power.

Happy driving!
