SONY VAIO LIFESTYLE PC
This is Sony’s entry model into the hot, and getting hotter, netbook market.
At first glance, it appears to fall into the same category as the Dell Mini or the Asus Eee PC.
But there are some big differences, including the price (it’s not cheap).
It’s one of the smallest laptops out there – roughly the footprint of a plain white business envelope. The screen is 8-inches (1,600 x 768 display). It’s about an inch thick and weighs just under 1 ½ pounds.
The mini-VAIO includes a 3G mobile broadband antenna, 802.11n Wi-Fi, GPS, and Bluetooth.
There is one potentially bothersome feature. In order to keep the chassis small, there is no touchpad. Instead, a pointing stick is embedded in the keyboard.
Sony apparently has the female demographic in mind with the Lifestyle PC.
In a press release the company says, “Designed for the fashionista in all of us, it's the ideal companion...
“The spacing between keys has also been engineered to help reduce typing mistakes making it perfect for long fingernails.”
The standard-issue Lifestyle PC comes with a 1.33 GHz Intel Processor, 2 GB RAM, 60 GB Hard Drive with G-Sensor and Vista Basic. Upgrades are available.
It sells for around $850.
