According to live coverage provided by MacRumorsLive.com, Apple announced the newest phone at 1:46 pm central time.
The live coverage from MacRumorsLive says the phone will look mostly the same on the outside, but will have new guts.
It won't include the rumored front facing camera for video conferencing, but will include an improved camera with auto-focus and video capability. The iPhone will also now come enabled with Voice Controls.
MacRumorsLive reports iPhone 3GS will be 2.1x faster at launching messages, 2.4x faster at loading SimCity, 3.6x faster at loading an Excel attachment and 2.9x faster as launching a large website.
The capacity for the device is growing, with the largest model of the iPhone 3GS now storing 32 GB of data for $299. The device will be available begining June 19. The 3GS model will also ship in a 16 GB model for $199. The 8 GB base iPhone 3G model will now retail for only $99, beginning today.
