LARGO, FL -- About 50 neglected dogs are hoping a move to the Bay area will the ticket to a happier and healthier life.

The dogs are just some of the 400 confiscated from a home in Clarksdale, Mississippi. Authorities say they were mostly suffering from neglect, with illnesses like mange and bite marks because of overcrowded conditions.

Several Florida agencies have volunteered to take the dogs in, including the SPCA Tampa Bay, Humane Society of Tampa Bay and Humane Society of Broward County.

Once the animals are checked out and cleared by a vet, they will be put up for adoption.
