LAND O' LAKES, FL -- Pasco County Sheriff's detectives say they've connected a Hudson man to another smash and grab department store theft.
Tyler Odell was already in jail on similar charges when he was arrested for a November theft at a Port Richey Target. Investigators say Odell took a hammer from the hardware aisle, and then used it to smash through a display case containing iPods.
According to deputies, Odell took eight Ipod's valued at $1,610. During a separate investigation, Odell was identified by the same smash and grab method in several other cases where iPods were stolen.
Odell told deputies he did not remember stealing the iPods, but he did identify himself in surveillance photos. He told deputies the stolen iPods were sold by an alleged accomplice and the money divided up.
Odell also told investigators he used the money to support a drug habit. The arrest report indicates Odell has needle tracks on both arms.
