PLANT CITY, FL -- Several agencies have pointed to the severe drought the general Tampa Bay region is under but it may be more apparent in Plant City where several sink holes have shown up closing several roads.

Steve Valdez with the Hillsborough County Public Works department says that it appears the heavy watering to protect strawberries during the last freezing weather may be the cause of at least six sinkholes.

No homes have been impacted by the holes but several roads are closed or have restrictions until the holes can be repaired.

The roads include:

100 block of Whitelaw Road

100 block of Moore Lake Road

3440 block of Gallagher Road

14300 block of Sydney Road

3200 block of Lone Oak Road

and the 4100 block of Drawdy Road.
