An Abilene man was arrested after his plan of escape ran out of air.

Last week, an officer was dispatched to a business on a report of a theft in progress.

When Officer Herd arrived, he saw the suspect, an unidentified 30-year-old male, running out of the front doors.

Officer Herd chased the suspect, who jumped into a nearby creek.

The suspect's plan failed when he realized he couldn't breath under water.

He was arrested after he came up for air.

He was charged with evading police and theft. He had taken approximately $32 worth of merchandise.
