Jealous woman caught up in the heat of the moment

Last Update: 6/18 5:14 pm
An Evansville woman was arrested after police say she was jealous and set a house on fire.

32-year-old Patricia Hawkins was upset that Roger Hobby was ignoring her phone calls and spending time with another woman.

Hobby said he was ignoring Hawkins because she broke a window during a fight earlier in the week.

Police say Hawkins showed up at the Hobby's home Wednesday morning and broke the same window she broke before.

When Hobby came outside to confront Hawkins, she threatened him with a knife and a piece of glass, then ran away.

Police say Hawkins came back a little while later, poured gas in the house, then left. She returned shortly and threw a paper towel that was on fire at the house.

Hobby was able to put out the fire and Hawkins was arrested near the house.

hawkins told police that she didn't set the fire, but admitted that she would have if she had a lighter.

She is being held without bond and the Vanderburgh County Jail.
