Don't befriend your hostages

Last Update: 9/15 5:24 pm
DOVER, KS -- A man wanted for multiple crimes was captured after befriending the couple he was allegedly holding hostage.

According to family members, the man, later identified as 23-year-old Jesse Dimmick, forced his way into the home of newlywed couple Jared and Lindsay Rowley.

The couple offered Dimmick something to drink and gave him pillows and a blanket. After 2 and a half hours, Dimmick fell asleep in the bedroom the couple offered to him.

Family members say the couple sent them text messages, which they then passed on to police.

The couple escaped while Dimmick was sleeping, unaware that authorities had surrounded the house.

Once the couple was safely out, Dimmick was confronted by police. He was shot and injured during the confrontation, but his imjuries were considered non-life-threatening.

Dimmick was wanted in Colorado in connection to a killing, and in North Carolina, Louisiana and Colorado for burglary.

Chance are, the friendship between the couple and Dimmick has soured.
