We'd like to introduce you to local Jefferson Awards Nominee, Claire LeBoeuf
of Thonotosassa. Sister Claire is founder of the St. Francis Foundation.
She was nominated by board member John Jones. Mr. Jones has known Sister Claire for about three years, and shared the following with us:
The mission of St. Francis Foundation Inc. and all of its programs is
to provide services to abused and neglected children with the ultimate goal of
placing them into safe, stable and permanent homes.
Her most recent endeavor includes the creation of the Village at Every Day Blessings.
It is designed as an Intergenerational Community of Caring. In this community, parents willing to adopt a minimum of four children will be surrounded by a larger community of senior citizens who as surrogate grandparents, will provide mentoring and supportive services to all.
When ABC Action News contacted Sister Claire, she shared the following with us:
"I felt privileged to be honored for such a prestigious award. I don't see myself as doing great things-- but as being motivated by a great God. I don't feel that I'm as much of a hero as are the abused and impermanent lives--- makes THEM the heroes in this story. I am simply an instrument."
