Mark Fowler of St. Petersburg

Last Update: 1/19 9:36 am

We'd like to introduce you to local Jefferson Awards Nominee, Mark Fowler
of St. Petersburg. Mr. Fowler is the Chair of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) Operations. He was nominated by Hardy Bryan of the non-profit group, Selama Grotto Cerebral Palsy Endowment, who shared the following with us:

I have worked closely with Mark for 8 years. Mark is responsible for the operation of
five hyperbaric oxygen chambers, two of which are in his own home. These chambers
provide mild Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) to children afflicted with cerebral palsy, autism, shaken baby syndrome, Crohn's disease, diabetes, heart disease, and also to near drowning victims.

He treats 30 children daily and provides remarkable improvements in the patients capabilites and quality of life. Patients come from the local community as well as nationwide and from overseas. Mark's is the only organization in the world that provides this treatment free of charge. In many children, this treatment has eliminated seizures, allowed them to eat whole food, allowed autistic children to communicate with caregivers.  The oustanding successes achieved are attributed mainly to Mark's dedication and devotion, his love for children and a deep desire to improve the lives of the children and their caregivers. Mark's only reward is knowing he has accomplished this.

When ABC Action News called him with news of the nomination, Mark told us "He was
shocked and excited about the nomination. Everyday miracles are happening in my living room."  Mark and his wife run the entire operation out of their home, despite  higher monthly electric bills and overcall cost."
