We'd like to introduce you to local Jefferson Awards Nominee, Glenda Smith
of Carrollwood. Ms. Smith runs a horse rescue on the Equestrian Club Country in Tampa.
She was nominated by Kimberly Cray who shared the following with us:
I have known Glenda for over 6 years. I first visited her rescue barn to take donation
trail rides and learn the basics of horseback riding and equestrian care. Her loving
and nurturing personality has made her not only my friend, but almost like a second
mother to me. This amazing woman rescued more than 50 horses, numerous dogs, pigs, cows, cats and other livestock animals...animals severely neglected and abused over the years...if it wasn't for her, these animals would still be in miserable living
conditions, without shelter or medical care.
Even after the farm was sold, Glenda somehow finds a way each month to stay on the property, keeping the farm alive, paying hundreds and thousands of dollars for the animals medical bills and feed. She is my hero and inspiration because, no matter what obstacle comes her way, she can overcome it...thinking of the animals more than about herself. I believe this "wonder woman" deserves more credit and support than what she gets.
When ABC Action News called her with news of her nomination, Glenda told us
"I am honored."
