BRADENTON, FL -- Manatee County Health Department staff will be providing H1N1 (swine flu) vaccinations at seven public school clinics in conjunction with Manatee County Schools, starting Friday, November 6th.
To receive the vaccine, students must be enrolled in school and have parents or guardians present with signed consent forms. According to the Manatee County Health Department press release, an information packet, including a parental consent form, risks and contraindications, will be distributed this week to Manatee County students.
"We are targeting our elementary students first as they have been identified as more at risk than middle and high school age students, as indicated in Manatee County's laboratory syndromic surveillance data," said Dr. Jennifer Bencie, Adminstrator of the Manatee County Health Department.
"We expect to have all of the public elementary school clinics scheduled between now and the December holidays. We will release another schedule of clinic sites and dates by mid November, in accordance to the availability of the vaccine."
Consent forms from parents wishing to have their children vaccinated are required to be returned to the appropriate school within three days of receipt.
