WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Florida Senator Bill Nelson is asking President Barack Obama to streamline federal assistance for consumers who are stuck with tainted drywall from China.

According to a spokesperson for the Senator, Nelson wrote we urgently need "White House mobilization and coordination of all federal resources that could help homeowners."

Nelson has cited the many federal programs that could assist the affected homeowners, including the Department of Housing and Urban Development and the Federal Emergency Management Agency, they say the Florida senator asked the president for a "one-stop federal Drywall Assistance Center."

More than 500 homeowners have lodged complaints with the Florida Department of Health about tainted Chinese drywall in their homes.
