Emmy award-winning anchor Walt Maciborski joined the ABC Action News team in October 2005 as an evening anchor and reporter.
Walt entered the broadcast field in 1989 and served as a desk assistant and part-time assistant producer at ABC News in Los Angeles, London, and Washington D.C. His career has also taken him through Medford, Oregon; Austin, Texas, and Atlanta.
Since his start in broadcasting, Walt has been the recipient of numerous awards and honors: 2001 Emmy for Best Anchor in the Southern Region, Associated Press Best Reporter in Texas in 1996, the Texas Gavel Award from the Texas Bar Association for a special report on "Probation Overload," and the Barbara Jordan Award from the Texas Governor's Committee for a report entitled "Seeing Sound," which was recognized for its "excellence in the communication of the reality of disabled people."
Walt has covered many major news events in his broadcasting career, including the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing, the 2000 All-Star Game at Turner Field in Atlanta, and the 2000 Summer Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia.
Born in Calgary, Canada, Walt came to the United States before his first birthday and grew up in Southern California. Walt holds a B.A. from the University of Southern California with a double major in broadcast journalism and political science.
In his free time, Walt may be found hitting the golf course or the beach. Walt and his wife Kim have three sons.
