Jackie Callaway

Jackie Callaway is the ABC Action News Taking Action reporter. Jackie came to Tampa from WKMG, the CBS affiliate in Orlando, Florida. She recently received an Associated Press award for her work. This summer, she was the recipient of a spot news award from Society of Professional Journalists.

Jackie was born in San Francisco, California and moved with her family to Florida as a young child. She did most of her growing up in the small central Florida town of Wildwood. Jackie attended college at the University of Central Florida and shortly after college, landed a job in Tampa as a news anchor for 970 WFLA radio. Jackie returned to central Florida to pursue television news, spending five years reporting at WKMG. Jackie joined the ABC Action News team in May of 2002 and has come back to the city she loves.

Along with meeting interesting people, journalism provides Jackie the opportunity to tell a different story almost every day. She loves writing.

Jackie is a former aerobics instructor who now competes in women's obstacle course racing and fitness events. In her spare time, she enters running and cycling events to help raise money for the leukemia society. Jackie isn't the only one who loves to cycle. Her husband of three years, Andy, races mountain bikes. In the winter, snow skiing is her favorite sport.

Jackie is also a huge animal lover. Her favorite creatures include Boss, her pound puppy, and Bo, her bird.
