Email Elizabeth DinhElizabeth joined the news team in October 2007, making the move from the
Lone Star State to the
Sunshine State.
Elizabeth most recently worked at KAMR NBC 4/KCIT FOX 14 in
Amarillo, Texas, where she was weekend anchor/reporter.
Elizabeth covered numerous stories, including tornadoes and severe storms, the fight for
Eastern New Mexico’s Cannon Air Force Base to get off the BRAC (Base Realignment and Closure) list and the deadly wildfires of 2006. She also reported on the influx of Somali immigrants into
Amarillo, reporting on how they were adjusting to change – and how schools and the community were adjusting for the newcomers. While in
Amarillo,
Elizabeth volunteered her free time as a Vietnamese-English interpreter for Catholic Family Services.
Elizabeth is originally from the
Dallas/Ft. Worth area – she was born in
Irving,
Texas and grew up in
Arlington, Texas. She first considered becoming a doctor or interior designer, before turning to her true calling by receiving her Broadcast Communications degree from the
University of
Texas at
Arlington.
Elizabeth’s parents immigrated to the
United States in 1975, during the Fall of Saigon; because of them, she is fluent in Vietnamese and can even cook up a few authentic Vietnamese dishes! She’s the youngest and only daughter among six brothers (with more than a dozen nieces and nephews, and counting).
Elizabeth proudly holds the title of Miss Asian American Texas 2003-2004. She’s also the recipient of the Girl Scout Gold Award (the highest honor a Girl Scout can achieve). She is currently Vice President of the
Florida chapter of the Asian American Journalists Association.
When she’s not working,
Elizabeth loves spending time with her husband, Kevin. They’re usually watching the week’s newest release at the movie theater, travelling, bowling, trying out one of the area’s many great restaurants or simply lounging at home with their pug, Tiny.
Elizabeth’s a big fan of the Dallas Cowboys, Dallas Mavericks, and Texas Rangers – but she also roots for the Bucs and Rays.
