Chris Martinez joined the ABC Action News team in July 2003. He can be seen reporting weeknights on ABC Action News at 11pm.
An award-winning reporter, Chris came to Tampa from Central Florida News 13 in Orlando. Prior to that, he covered several counties in South Georgia as a bureau reporter for WCTV, Tallahassee's CBS affiliate. Chris began his career as an associate producer at WTXL and also worked as a news writer at Florida's News Channel.
Chris was born in Miami, grew up in Orlando and also spent several years living in Louisville, Ky. He is a proud graduate of The Florida State University, where he studied political science and communications.
Beyond his work on the air, Chris has also been recognized for his volunteer efforts with the Salvation Army's Red Kettle Campaign and The Children's Miracle Network. When he's not covering news, you can often find Chris at the gym pursuing his passion for fitness. He also enjoys checking out the latest movie releases and spending time with friends and family.
