Carson was born and raised in Tampa and is thrilled to be reporting in her home town. She joined ABC Action News after reporting for WBTV Charlotte, NC , WBBH in Fort Myers/Naples and WCJB-TV in Gainesville.
Carson is an award-winning journalist who covered the 2000 Florida Presidential Election Recount, the Florida Governor's race, the Space Shuttle Columbia tragedy and numerous presidential visits to Florida and North Carolina.
She was at ground zero when Hurricane Charley hit Southwest Florida. The category four storm slammed into the coast on Friday 13th at 145-miles per hour and cut a swath of destruction across her TV viewing area. She was proud to be part of a team providing viewers with a lifeline of 24-hour, live, local news coverage. Carson also covered severe flooding caused by Hurricanes Ivan, Jeanne and Frances in the mountains of North Carolina.
Carson's stories in Charlotte exposed an underworld of crime including violent street gangs, crystal methamphetamine makers and dog-fighting rings. Her investigative series on "Master Keys" prompted state lawmakers to pass a new North Carolina law making it easier for police to arrest thieves who carry these tools to break into cars. She also teamed-up with Cold Case Homicide detectives as they solved decades-old murder cases.
Carson grew-up boating and fishing on local waterways and caught her first tarpon in Boca Grande.
She played in state-ranked tennis tournaments and taught youth tennis camps in Tampa.
She attended Berkeley Preparatory School in Tampa and graduated from Washington and Lee University in Virginia.
Carson loves kayaking, fishing, interior design, art history, Cuban food, cheering on the Bucs—and spending time with her family, friends and her Italian Greyhound, Nickelby.
